HydroTherapy - Efficacy. And Simplicity.

Successful wound healing in just two steps via an innovative wound therapy

HydroTherapy is a novel approach to the treatment of chronic wounds as well as wounds with impaired healing. There are only two steps from wound cleansing to wound healing, making HydroTherapy effective and simple.

HydroTherapy: an important question leads to a life-changing solution

Wound patients are often unaware that a different approach can be more effective. HydroTherapy is a new approach in the treatment of a wide range of wounds.

Cindy, an employee of HARTMANN in the Netherlands, tells us how she changed a patient’s life with HydroTherapy.

One wound therapy, two perfectly harmonised preparations

The success of HydroTherapy is derived from two Hydro-Responsive Wound Dressings (HRWD®) which perfectly complement one another – each with its own unique mode of action, delivering rapid cleansing, early granulation tissue formation, epithelialisation while maintaining a balanced level of moisture at all phases of wound progression – to support effective wound healing. 1

HydroTherapy sets itself apart thanks to efficient wound healing processes: rapid cleansing, early granulation, and sustained wound epithelialization.

HydroClean plus

The first step: HydroClean® Plus wound cleansing

With its unique Rinsing-Absorption Mechanism, HydroClean® plus is the patented Hydro-Responsive Wound Dressing (HRWD®) that promotes autolytic debridement.2, 3

HydroClean® plus contains Ringer's solution and PHMB*. This supports an optimally-moist wound-healing environment for up to three days. 3, 4

With easy-to-remove silicone strips as well as a non-adherent hydrophobic layer, HydroClean® plus conforms well to the wound surface and enables atraumatic dressing removal for patients. 4, 5

HydroClean® plus is the only wound dressing that cleanses and debrides.

The second step: HydroTac® epithelialization boost

Accelerated epithelialization; wound healing boosted by AquaClear Gel technology. 10

HydroTac® enhances the body’s natural wound healing process. Innovative AquaClear Gel increases growth factor concentration with hydrated polyurethane. The growth factors accumulate on the surface of the gel. 6

At the same time, moisture is released from the pad, ensuring ideal wound climate. 7, 8, 9

HydroTac® can be used for several days without changing the dressing, thus ensuring minimal disturbance to the wound.11

Our packaging system

Informative and efficient

The idea of a simple, two-step wound therapy is also captured in HydroClean® plus and HydroTac® packaging designs.

  • All designs and variants are easily recognisable
  • The colour-coding system acts as a guide to selecting a suitable preparation
  • Easy to use thanks to application icons

Always ahead of the pack in the development of innovative technologies

HARTMANN was the first to recognise the importance of activated super-absorbant polyacrylate polymers in the treatment of wounds and the first to put it into practice. This platform technology has been proven to provide a clearly better preparation of the wound bed and therefore more rapid healing. Hydrated polyurethanes are a unique class of materials which may be used in wound dressings. This second technology platform has been developed specifically to promote wound closure. Together both technologies form the basis for our unique and highly effective HydroTherapy.
